The Virginia Department of Fire Programs (VDFP) collects and analyzes fire incident data through two national systems: the National Fire Incident Reporting System (NFIRS) and the National Emergency Response Information System (NERIS).

Together, these platforms provide a detailed snapshot of emergency trends across the Commonwealth, empowering communities to make safer, more informed decisions.
By sharing fire and emergency data openly, VDFP helps local agencies, public officials and citizens strengthen preparedness and response efforts statewide.
