Web Accessibility Initiative

At the Virginia Department of Fire Programs (VDFP), we are committed to making our website accessible to all users, including those with disabilities.

As part of the April 2026 Website Modernization Initiative led by the Virginia Information Technologies Agency (VITA), we are dedicated to ensuring our website conforms to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 AA standards.

Our Commitment

We understand the importance of accessibility and strive to provide an inclusive digital experience for everyone.  Our goal is to eliminate barriers and create a seamless online environment that allows all users to access the information and services they need.

WCAG 2.1 AA Standards

To achieve this, our website adheres to the WCAG 2.1 standards, which provides comprehensive guidelines for making web content more accessible to people with disabilities. These standards cover a wide range of recommendations to improve the accessibility of web content, including:

Perceivable: Ensuring that information and user interface components are presented in ways that users can perceive.

Operable: Making sure that user interface components and navigation are operable.

Understandable: Ensuring that information and the operation of the user interface are understandable.

Robust: Maximizing compatibility with current and future user agents, including assistive technologies.
